FWB AWARDS : Monday 20th April 2009
These awards give the women of Fife an opportunity to showcase their business talents and personal achievements. This year there were two awards being presented, Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Woman of Achievement.
Cheryl Crawford – Cheryl Crawford Dance Studio, Glenrothes, - was delighted to be selected Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the panel of judges. She showed determination and drive to push her business forward and now has nearly 300 pupils and her own dance studios. She offers many styles of dance classes including ladies classes.
The other finalist for this award was Karen Owen, from DK Owen Lingerie, St Clair ST, Kirkcaldy. She exhibited tremendous passion for her business and had successfully negotiated the attention of Designer brands like Dolce and Gabbanna and Marnie. The professional measuring and fitting service offered is paramount to customer satisfaction.
Woman of Achievement was a new award at FWB this year, and we are proud to acknowledge Mrs Norma Graham, Chief Constable of Fife as our winner. She joined the police in 1981 and is now the highest ranking police officer in Scotland. With a wealth of experience in all areas of policing and policy making, she has studied policing in Europe and North America, from the FBI Academy Quantico to the University of Cambridge. Due to a prior engagement she was unable to be with us on the night, but Chief Superintendent Fiona Barker kindly accepted the award on her behalf.
In light of the current economic climate, we are extremely grateful to our sponsors this year, who also had the difficult task of being our judges: Alan Morrison from Crosbie Matthew, Funeral Directors Brian Meechan, Fife Auto Centre Martin Wight, Martin Wight Electrical Our final judge was Shiona Wishart, Fife Business Service
